Sota and Mari are two kids living in a country village. Their local school has just one classroom, attended by pupils of all ages. Mari takes care of the younger children, while Sota prefers taking care of cats. His love for cats, passed down by his veterinarian father, makes him even more compassionate each time the tide brings in the tiny lifeless bodies of felines that come from a near island. A cursed place where, in times of war, toxic gasses were tested that eventually mutated the population. The two take a boat and explore the island, but neither could guess what they discover there...
